LongJing Makes Its Penang Debut with First Branch Opening!

Penang’s vibrant food scene just got even more exciting. LongJing, a name synonymous with refined flavours and elegant dining, has officially opened its very first branch on the island. Known for its dedication to quality and thoughtfully crafted dishes, this new opening marks a significant milestone for the brand and a must-visit spot for Penangites and visitors alike. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at what makes LongJing’s Penang debut worth the buzz.

The vermicelli wrapped shrimps were a delightful start to the meal. The shrimps were plump and fresh, wrapped neatly in delicate strands of vermicelli that absorbed all the savoury flavours during cooking. Lightly crisp on the outside yet tender inside, the dish struck a lovely balance between texture and taste, making it both comforting and refined at the same time.

The Dongpo ribs were undoubtedly the star of the table. Slow-braised until incredibly tender, the meat effortlessly fell off the bone with every bite. The sauce was deep, rich, and aromatic coating the ribs in a glossy finish that delivered a perfect harmony of sweetness and savouriness. It’s the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the meal ends.

The wild greens and dried tofu crystal dumplings offered a refreshing contrast to the richer dishes on the table. Delicately wrapped in translucent skins, each dumpling revealed a fragrant filling of earthy wild greens and silky dried tofu. Light yet flavourful, the dish felt clean and comforting, with a gentle umami that highlighted the natural ingredients without overpowering them.

The claypot rice with egg, smoked meat, mushroom, and peppers was pure comfort food done right. Served piping hot, the rice carried a subtle smokiness from the claypot, while the egg added richness and depth to every spoonful. Bits of smoky meat, tender mushrooms, and sweet peppers were evenly mixed throughout, creating layers of flavour and texture that made this dish deeply satisfying and hard to stop eating.

The chocolate flavored mushroom dessert was a delightful surprise and a fun way to end the meal. Shaped to resemble delicate mushrooms, the dessert combined a smooth, chocolatey richness with a light, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Not overly sweet, it struck a nice balance between indulgent and elegant, making it as enjoyable to look at as it was to eat.

The Leifeng Pagoda dessert was as visually striking as it was satisfying. Inspired by the iconic landmark, this beautifully crafted dessert featured delicate layers and subtle sweetness that showcased thoughtful technique and presentation. Light, refined, and well-balanced, it felt like a fitting finale leaving a lasting impression without overwhelming the palate.

LongJing delivers a dining experience that is both polished and satisfying. The ambience is tastefully designed calm, elegant, and comfortable making it an ideal setting for casual meals, family gatherings, or special occasions. Every dish we tried was well-executed and flavourful, showcasing careful attention to quality, balance, and presentation from start to finish.

With its impressive food, inviting atmosphere, and consistent flavours across the menu, LongJing is definitely a restaurant we would recommend. Whether you’re visiting for a proper sit-down meal or celebrating a special moment, this new Penang outlet is well worth checking out.
