1. Over and Above

If you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine, you’re going to like Over and Above’s take on a contemporary Japanese menu because they did it and they did it well! At this new cafe in Penang, you can enjoy a Cauliflower Karaage, Lobster Croquette, Beef Soba Noodle Salad, Garlic-Butter Salmon Donburi, and Green Curry Prawn Tempura Bowl as well as a Matcha & White Chocolate Cake for dessert.
The menu here is rather unique for a Penang cafe and it will definitely leave you wanting more! Of course, we have to give a special mention to their range of specialty coffee: The Great Wall of China, Godfather, Penang Road Factory, Bangkok Spirit and Black Forest. Cryptic? 2. Flagship by Navy

This new Penang cafe is a new hotspot for people to chill at and you might just be one of them if you love coffee and pasta! Flagship by Navy serves delicious King Prawn Aglio Olio, Chicken Pesto Rocco, Angus Beef Streaky Carbonara and Tom Yum Cream Spanish Octopus — yum indeed!
Let’s not forget a cafe’s signature coffees and this Penang cafe is interesting enough to group its coffees into categories of ‘Energy’, ‘Mood’ and ‘Inspired’. We’d recommend that you try the Gula Melaka Affogato and Dirty Latte but if you’re not a coffee person, they also have Chinese teas and kefir sodas for you to sip on.

Want delicious, aromatic coffee and want it fast? Just drive-thru at 15Grams! This “Penang cafe” is, in actuality, a baking studio that sells coffee and also soft, spongy, luscious cakes.
You will have to place your orders via Beepit and then roll up to the shop window for collection — a very fast and efficient process to get your coffee and dessert right as you arrive at the shop! Order a Level Latte or a Freddo coupled with a Banana Hazelnut Chocolate or Mandarin Earl Grey roll cake for a fast and tasty cafe fix.

Nero Nero has a very extensive menu for wines and coffees as well as for food that will truly spoil you for choice! From pasta that is cooked-to-order and gourmet pizza to desserts that we can’t pronounce, Nero Nero truly provides a deluxe all-in-one experience and it is a must-try for enthusiasts of authentic Italian cuisine.

5. Grain Modern Food Store All Seasons Place

If you like food, coffee and wine then Grain Modern Good Store is where you’ll want to spend your time! You might have heard of this popular new Penang cafe in Bukit Mertajam — good news, it has opened a new outlet in George Town so that nobody in Penang needs to miss out on the goodness of its delicious coffee and even more delicious food.
Order yourself a cuppa and pair it with one of their many signature dishes, some of which are the Seafood Aglio Olio, Shredded Chicken Hot Carbonara, Caribbean Baked Fish, and Grain Modern Meatball. This is only a sneak peek into their very special menu, there are lots more for you to enjoy!

6. Urban Daybreak
In their own words, Urban Daybreak is an artisan cafe that “aims to tantalise your tastebuds with authentic Australian breakfast and brunch with a twist”. This new cafe in Penang has great coffee but what we really have to give a shoutout to is their brunch menu.
We highly recommend the signature Urban’s Really Big Breakfast because it has a bit of all the breakfast foods that everyone loves and also the Wild on Shrooms (food so good it’ll have you tripping!) and the Zucchini Hash and Egg. If you’re there with a bigger appetite that breakfast food won’t satiate, you’ll want to try The Hungry Burger, The Ultimate Steak Sandwich or the Crackling on Salmon.

Adore Penang is a new cafe in Penang that has really experimented with different flavour combinations of coffee before adding the best of it to their menu!
Visitors should definitely try their signature coffee, the Espresso Yin, but if you like your coffee black then the Honey Americano has the perfect balance of slight bitter and earthy sweet. Enjoy your fresh brew while sitting in the midst of a collection of beautiful artworks by local artists!

That’s not all, you haven’t truly experienced Ang Ang’s Roastery until you’ve savoured their scrumptious, delicious, creamy cakes! We recommend the Almond Chocolate-Cream Crack Cake with four layers of flavourful creamy and spongy goodness and the Caramel Biscoff Cake with hints of coffee aroma. You’ll want to eat your way through the menu at this Penang cafe!
